Op zoek naar meer info!

door queezy » 13 feb 2010, 17:39

Hallo,

Hi, Thanks so much for your friendship. I have an interest in Belgium as my father was a WWII pilot and his plane was shot down in Belgium. Everyone on the plane was fine after they landed and they spent a week in a town there and had a blast. Dad said the people treated him and his fellow soldiers like heroes. The plane was called the Mary Lou, and Dad saved a piece of the plane we found after he passed into heaven a year ago. Anyway please let me know what you can about Belgium as I am interested in learning what I can. Thanks so much in advance. Rebecca

Hi rebecca,

that's a verry interesting story you got there, i'm from a city called Ghent, i dunno wich city or so it whas somewhere that the plane whas shot down, let me know if you can. So i can try to tell you something about it. It's actually a pleasure to talk about that for me because i'm verry interested in everything about the WW's and the army and such things. Do you by any chance know any website that contains more info about the Mary Lou?

---------

Hi Wesley, Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you, but I have some informnation. My father was in the 486th bomb group in Lt. Scheopner's Crew the website is http://www.486th.org/photos/crew2/Scheopner.htm Like I said they got shot down in Belgium and slept in the same beds the Germans had slept in 3 nights before. The crew was treated like Kings by the people in the town they were in. Dad said they did not want to be found, so they partied for a whole week in that town until the Air Force finally caught up with them and they had to report back to duty. I think the plane was the Mary Lou, but they also had lots of missions on the Goin Jesse. I would love to find out which town they were in and had their super party for a whole week!!!!! Thank You Belgium for giving my father such a good time for a week, and a break from the war!!!!!!!! My father was an Ace Fighter Pilot B-17G Planes. Sincerely Yours, Rebecca

Alvast hartelijk dankt!
Groeten, Queezy.
