XXX corps 2014 on the way to the rescue !

Toevallig kwam ik op deze website uit. Plannen om de tocht van XXX corps in 1944 na te doen in 2014.

Ben benieuwd of ze daar van de verschillende Nederlandse gezagsdragers toestemming voor zullen krijgen.
Zou een herhaling moeten worden van de 40 jarige herdenking.



Shit is dat er weer heel veel zal gebeuren op heel veel plaatsen. En daar kan je helaas niet overal bij zijn.

Inmiddels heb ik vernomen dat in Nederland dezelfde actie wordt ondernomen.

Ik vraag me af of het een samenwerkingsverband betreft of 2 verschillende initiatieven. Dat zou bijelkaar behoorlijk dwars kunnen gaan zitten als dat niet is afgestemd.

My name is Martin Wright and I am one of the organisers of the XXX Corps 2014 event.

I participated in a very small XXX Corps run in 2009 well organised by a few friends in the Netherlands and we decided to expand the idea by bringing a large group of vehicles and reenactors from outside the Netherlands to celebrate this historic event in 2014.

We want more Dutch participation and would warmly welcome any British or Canadian vehicles and will also consider American vehicles that were in the original XXX Corps column, especially Halftracks and DUKW's, but there are others. If you are unsure, post a question or send us an email, just talk to us.

We would also welcome reenactors willing to dress up in the scratchy British BD kit, vehicle owners will also need to dress in British kit and both will need to have a British tent/basher.

We are well aware of the OMG plan for 2014 and are aware that many clubs have decided to join with them. However we wish to offer an alternative for those people who wish to participate in a specifically British event.

We are not asking for any money up front. Just send us an email to register an interest, if you are interested.

Any questions, preferably in English, however I can cope with Dutch using google translate. Answers will be in english though.

Thrilled to hear that a large Brit event will be held over here. Not sure if I am going to join as a member of the Poor Bloody infantry. But I will be there in Brit uniform!

Thanks for the message, some time ago I tried to register with TommyTalk but it kept rejecting me, I have just tried again and this time it has accepted me.

I was not aware of the reenactment forum. I will try to register with them as well. Thanks for the tip.

I will also contact the two vehicle groups.

You are very welcome to come as one of the PBI, or if you want to crew a vehicle, we might be able to find you a space.

We already have some solo infantry who we can attach to existing units, or if we have enough, create a new squad, under an experienced individual.

2014 is the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Netherlands Army.

Founded after the capture of Napoleon (for the first time) their newly created army was on the British side at Waterloo, luckily for us Brits.

The Royal Netherlands Army have decided to provide cooperation with our XXX Corps event to compliment their bicentennial celebrations.

We are also very pleased to announce that the XXX Corps event in September 2014 is now part of the official celebrations commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the southern area of the Netherlands.

We are still recruiting, looking for vehicles, crew and infantry.

The event is now almost full, as regards vehicles.

There is space available for infantry, including the PIB and crews to man anti tank guns and mortars.

as you know the Princess Irene Brigade allready joined, you got your POC: Sjoerd.
We really have to know who's the officer in charge of the RNLA. This gives us the opportunity to use RNLA facilities.
Please contact me by PM/PB. I'm the one in charge for the training of the PIB platoon.

En als er onder de forumleden mensen zijn die als soldaat mee willen doen in het peloton PIB, contact via mij. Ik zorg dat je aanmelding bij de coördinator komt!
Je bent welkom indien je
- 18 of ouder bent;
- aangesloten bent bij een LPLG-aangesloten living historyvereniging;
- bereid bent de uitrustingstaat en bewapening aan te schaffen die een soldaat PIB in die tijd bij zioch had;
- fysiek een geloofwaardig soldaat bij het toenmalig PIB kunt uitbeelden;
- tijd wilt steken in trainingssessies e.d.

Het wel of niet hebben van een wapenverlof is niet aan de orde. Heb je er eentje: leuk! Niet? Ook optreden met een vrijgesteld wapen is mogelijk!
