I think its a copy , the original helmet had a pair of large metal grommets,
fitted over the erea of the ears, to make it easier for the wearer to hear.
Look in book British Parchute Forces 1940 - 45 by Howard P.Davies, Series Editor Brian L.Davis site 23 - photo 47. Below right: "The cloth covered rubber traininghelmet. This is anearly pattern of the standard issue training helmet."
Helmet in photo dont have metal rings near ears.
Hello
The name of the maker is American (Canadian?) mfg. Co.
British are usually Ltd. .
So I am suspicious about it being original.
And I have seen replica, American made, covers being sold. unfortunately it seems I have not kept any documentation of these.
The original sorbo rubber used in these types of helmets were identical to the black rubber in the regular paratrooper helmets. The airbubbels were the rubber has been cut should be larger.
(Could be replacement rubber.)
Indeed there are helmets with and without the metal grommets.
